Every morning when the sun starts shining and the birds begin to sing, you will notice a delicious aroma of coffee exiting Lily's kitchen at our Bed and Breakfast. One of the best coffees in Costa Rica is made by Cafe Britt and it is the one we chose to serve in Sueno del Mar.

Café Britt was founded in 1985 as the first gourmet coffee roaster in Costa Rica.  Before Café Britt, it was virtually impossible to find a memorable cup of coffee in Costa Rica though we were growing some of the world’s most outstanding coffee beans. We recognized and harnessed the opportunity to create great change in the Costa Rican coffee industry by reserving and roasting some of our own beans.  They had all the ingredients for success: access to the quality gourmet coffee beans from the country’s best plantations, the finest mills, knowledgeable roasters, an obsession with quality and a desire to create an environmentally responsible coffee company.

Whale Season in Costa Rica

It’s whale season here on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica and we’re hearing reports from our friends on the catamaran tours out of Tamarindo Bay that these majestic mammals are being spotted on a regular basis!  The best time to view whales off the coast is in August and September as well as November and December although they can be seen periodically throughout the year.

Along with whales, you may also have the opportunity for other sealife sightings such as manta rays jumping out of the ocean, dolphins playing, sea turtles swimming and of course sea birds flying overhead.

During your stay with us at Sueno del Mar Bed and Breakfast, be sure to ask about the local catamaran cruises and enjoy a fun day cruising along the rich coast, snorkeling, relaxing and if mother nature agrees, seeing some awesome sealife!

A Decadent Costa Rica Destination Wedding at Sueno del Mar

Having your Destination Wedding in July at our Boutique could be a great deal! In Costa Rica, we have a little "mini summer" in July and August where it normally doesn't rain too much and because there are often times clouds, our stunning sunsets will be a great frame for your wedding photos.

Anna Maria and Chris  chose Sueño del Mar as the ideal setting for a casual wedding, where family and friends could enjoy the moonlit beach, laze around on the chaise lounges and bali beds, swing in a hammock,  dance and swim.   The couple asked Sunset Catering to design a cocktail party with lots of spicy Latin appetizers, a carving station and a variety of salads.    The casual theme extended to dessert, with a  chocolate fountain and tres leches cake.  Guests danced to the music of DJ Matos, taking breaks to dip  tropical fruit in the dark chocolate fountain before they returned to the dance floor or relaxed by the pool.  Decadent delight!
