One of the most exciting times of year here at Sueño del Mar Bed & Breakfast is New Year’s! At the beginning of the new year is when high season is officially in full-swing, and we are so happy to welcome our new and old friends back to the property here in Tamarindo, Costa Rica.

We are so honored the Jay Family always chooses our boutique bed & breakfast for their family New Year’s celebration each year! Over the past five years we have gotten to know the family well, and we look forward to seeing them each year. Summertime in Costa Rica

In Costa Rica there are two seasons. The summer season, starting in November or early December is the time when many people travel to the country. Summertime in Costa Rica is absolutely brilliant, with many special holidays and celebrations. During the summer season Costa Rica residents and tourists celebrate the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, Palmares Fiestas, and Semana Santa (Easter week) as well as local fiestas held in the small towns throughout the country. While the US and Canada are experiencing colder weather, it is summer in Costa Rica and no wonder tourists prefer to flock to our beautiful location instead of braving another winter at home.

Transitioning from winter to summer in Northwest Costa Rica means warm tropical breezes, very little, if any, rain and beautiful blue skies and sunshine each day.  Northwest Costa Rica, during the summer, sees short-term tourists as well as long term residents who vacation here for the winter months.  

There are more birds migrating into the area and the scenery all around is breathtaking. Summertime in Costa Rica

People are often surprised when they arrive at our Bed and Breakfast in Playa Langosta at this time of year.  Being a tropical country, many people imagine that Costa Rica is lush and green year round.  But in reality, it can get quite dry here and many of our trees actually go dormant in summer and then become green again in winter.

But while summertime here in Guanacaste may mean less green, it is also almost always guaranteed that we'll have blue skies, sunshine and warm days.  We hope you'll come visit during both our seasons and appreciate the beautiful differences that they both offer.
