Welcoming Winter in Costa Rica

April is the last month of the dry season here in Costa Rica.  Now, let's welcome the rain!!  During the rainy season, or what we like to call the "green season", our Bed & Breakfast takes on new life.  Our plants are so happy to see the first drops fall on their leaves.  During April, the heat becomes more intense, with increasing temperatures causing a greenhouse effect. Once concentrated, much of the heat in the soil starts to create moisture which rises creating the glorious clouds which gives life to the first rains after the summer.

Our hotel here in Playa Langosta becomes green with joyNo doubt that is the perfect place for a wonderful nap under the sound of the falling rain. Come for a visit and we'll prove it to you...we're waiting with our umbrellas in hand!

You will feel right at home at our beachfront Bed and Breakfast located near Tamarindo, Costa Rica.

Fresh Watermelon Juice

Have you ever tried fresh watermelon juice?  A delicious and easy to make drink, it will cool you off on a warm summer day!  Just remove the seeds and blend the watermelon, water and ice together to your liking.  You can add a little bit of sugar but you probably won't need it!  It will refresh you instantly and remind you of your travels to Sueno del Mar and Tamarindo.

The Guanacaste Tree, Costa Rica's National Tree

"Enterolobium cyclocarpum, commonly known as Guanacaste, Caro Caro, or Elephant Ear Tree, is a species of flowering tree in the pea family, Fabaceae, that is native to tropical regions of the Americas"

At Sueno del Mar Bed and Breakfast, we planted our first guanacaste tree 21 years ago by the first owners, Susan and Gregory.  It' s a young tree but already is giving us much shade and adding beauty to our beachfront property.

A family of howler monkeys often visits us and hangs out in this tree...offering our guests the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Costa Rica's wildlife, allowing you to take pictures of them and also film their loud voices... if you can copy their sound, you will feel like you can communicate very good with them!

During your stay with us, enjoy our Guanacaste tree and take a look to see if the monkeys are resting like you at our Bed & Breakfast.
