The Guanacaste Tree, Costa Rica's National Tree

"Enterolobium cyclocarpum, commonly known as Guanacaste, Caro Caro, or Elephant Ear Tree, is a species of flowering tree in the pea family, Fabaceae, that is native to tropical regions of the Americas"

At Sueno del Mar Bed and Breakfast, we planted our first guanacaste tree 21 years ago by the first owners, Susan and Gregory.  It' s a young tree but already is giving us much shade and adding beauty to our beachfront property.

A family of howler monkeys often visits us and hangs out in this tree...offering our guests the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Costa Rica's wildlife, allowing you to take pictures of them and also film their loud voices... if you can copy their sound, you will feel like you can communicate very good with them!

During your stay with us, enjoy our Guanacaste tree and take a look to see if the monkeys are resting like you at our Bed & Breakfast.

Our beachfront hotel in Playa Langosta is the perfect setting for your next Costa Rica vacation.
