Costa Rica's Guanacaste Day

Today, July 25th, is a Costa Rican holiday celebrating the Annexation of the Guanacaste Province from Nicaragua in 1824.  The story behind the annexation is that the people of Guanacaste believed, with all of the uncertain and volatile issues happening in other Central America countries like Nicaragua, that Costa Rica was a more stable environment and held a better future for them in the long run.  They also believed in the values of Costa Rica as a whole.

Throughout the country, there are fiestas and parades taking place today and even throughout the course of the entire week!  This is a holiday of celebration with traditional bull fights and dancing.

The Guanacaste tree is also the national tree of Costa Rica.

Our beachfront hotel in Playa Langosta is the perfect setting for your next Costa Rica vacation.
