Costa Rica's Dia de la Raza / Cultura

October 12th is Dia de la Raza / Cultura in Costa Rica.  While in the United States, it is known as Columbus Day, we call it a Cultural Day to highlight the past cultures that made significant contributions to the development of our country including the Spanish, Indigenous and Caribbean cultures. Columbus arrived to Costa Rica near Puerto Limon on the Caribbean coast in September 1502.

There will be fiestas and rodeos held today and throughout the week, mostly on our Caribbean coast, with parades, music, food and traditional dancing with brightly colored costumes. It's like a small Mardi Gras or Carnival celebration!

When you visit our Bed and Breakfast near Playa Tamarindo, be sure to learn about our local culture.  If there are local activities or festivals happening, we will be happy to coordinate the experience for you.

Our beachfront hotel in Playa Langosta is the perfect setting for your next Costa Rica vacation.
