One of the perks of being located on one of the most beautiful spots on Langosta Beach is having a front row seat to many special occasions. Along with weddings here at Sueño del Mar, we also host birthdays, anniversaries, and even wedding proposals. Last high season wedding photographer Jeff Hooper brought his girlfriend, Katie, to breakfast at Sueño del Mar to celebrate their two year anniversary of dating. Katie and Jeff met in Tamarindo while Jeff was on a surf vacation from Colorado. Katie had lived and worked as a photographer in Costa Rica for several years shooting weddings all over the country. One of their first days hanging out Katie suggested Sueño del Mar, and it quickly became the couple’s favorite local spot for brunch. She had no idea that two years later Jeff would take her here for brunch and propose to her on the beach right in front of our property! The two now live part time in Costa Rica shooting weddings together and were married last year. They return to Sueño del Mar regularly, and still consider it one of their favorite places in all of Costa Rica. If you want to check out another beach town while you’re visiting Tamarindo, Costa Rica you may want to hop down to Playa Avellanas for the day. Avellanas is a quiet little surf town home to one of our favorite little spots to grab lunch, a drink, and relax for the day- Lola's. Lola’s restaurant is the focal point of Avellanas and is located right on the pristine beach amidst nothing but palm trees and wilderness. Named after the pet pig, Lola, who was known for her sun bathing and wave wading, this hip little beach bar has become considerably more popular over the years, and there is a long list of reasons why. Along with one of the best surf breaks around that draws surfers from all around, the food at Lola’s is consistently amazing. With fresh salads, incredible nachos (with chips made in-house), flatbread pizzas, and the best fish and chips platter around, you definitely want to arrive to Lola’s hungry. And the best part about Lola’s is you are welcome to lounge around for the day and enjoy cold beers and cocktails, because you will definitely be wanting a snack after your time in the surf. Bring a towel, your board, and an appetite because you will want to spend the day at Lola’s!

Best Pizza in town!! PIZZERIA LA BAULA.

In our beach town of Tamarindo, Costa Rica we are lucky to have a very diverse expatriate community. Here at Sueño del Mar Bed & Breakfast we are very thankful for the incredible pizza of La Baula Pizzeria provided by some of our long-time Italian residents. With the crispy handmade crust and the freshest of ingredients for toppings, you will definitely find yourself wanting to go back for more! And don’t forget to try a sip of their in-house limoncello and homemade ice-cream after dinner. The setting for La Baula is extremely casual with wooden booths and picnic tables for even a large party of friends and family. Traveling with children? La Baula might be the most kid-friendly restaurant in town complete with hammock swings and a playground to keep the kiddos happy. When staying with us don’t forget to ask us for our local recommendations. La Baula and other places in town may be off the beaten path, but we promise to suggest the best our town has to offer that are worth the visit!

Tamarindo Feria!!! EVERY SATURDAY IN TOWN

On your visit to Tamarindo, Costa Rica you have to make sure to check out our local farmer’s market in town! The Tamarindo Feria is a one-stop shop for all things local including fresh produce and seafood, yummy baked goods, handmade arts and crafts, live music, and even fresh-cut flowers! Each year the market has grown, and this year they have expanded to a new location with plenty of room for the local food truck (make sure to try Eat My Taco) and plenty of parking. The market is open every Saturday from 8am-1pm, but the best time to stop by is in the morning for a cup of coffee and fresh pastry before it gets too hot outside. During your stay at Sueño del Mar Bed & Breakfast, make sure to ask about the market, and we will be happy to give you directions!

Rustic ceremony on the beach! Sara & John's Wedding day...

Here at Sueño del Mar Bed & Breakfast we love welcoming groups and celebrating weddings here on our property! Sarah and John decided to be married right in front of Sueño del Mar on the beach with their closest friends and family. This wedding was very special as the entire wedding group stayed with us. After an intimate wedding, the group enjoyed a fabulous sunset followed by dinner at Pangas Beach Club here in Tamarindo. Congratulations, Sarah and John! Huevos Rancheros!

When you wake up here in Tamarindo, Costa Rica at our boutique bed & breakfast, we will welcome you to our breakfast terrace and treat you to a three-course meal prepared thoughtfully by our amazing cook, Lili! One of the favorite dishes that guests always rave about is our huevos rancheros. The dish is created with handmade tortillas, local eggs and avocados, and house-made sauce.

While you’re enjoying the huevos rancheros, don’t forget to try out our house-made hot sauces! We have both a green and red hot sauce - both the perfect amount of flavor and spice to add a little extra kick to your breakfast.

Sueno del Mar Sweet & Sovory Breakfast Options!

If you’re looking for sweet and savory breakfast options to start your morning, here at Sueño del Mar Bed & Breakfast we offer you both! When you first step onto our breakfast terrace we will greet you with a cup of Costa Rican coffee or herbal tea. Our very own in-house chef Lili will prepare your meal, starting you out with a plate of fresh tropical fruit. Here at Sueño del Mar we always have the freshest selection of local produce with an assortment of fruit usually including mango, banana, papaya, watermelon, and pineapple.

 

Following your first course of fresh fruit is usually the savory portion of our breakfast. Each morning is different, but one of our favorite savory dishes is a typical Costa Rican breakfast plate of fried eggs, gallo pinto (beans and rice dish), and fried plantains and cheese.  

Remember to save room for a third course of breakfast, as Lili likes to send out something sweet to complete the meal. The dessert portion of our breakfast is always homemade and fresh out of the oven and can include anything from cream cheese-stuffed french toast to warm fruit pastries. One of the yummy options is also a fresh banana pancake, which never disappoints!
