August 2nd in Costa Rica: Virgin of the Angels Day

Virgin of the Angels Day (Virgin de Los Angeles) is Costa Rica's celebration of La Negrita.  This Costa Rican national holiday is the country's largest and most revered.  Businesses, banks and government offices are closed today.

August 2nd is the anniversary in which a native found the Virgin's statue, and upon taking it home, it kept reappearing at the site in which it was originally retrieved.  Costa Rican tradition has town's people from all over walk to Nuestra Senora de los Angeles Basillia in Cartago in honor of the Virgin.

You too can be a part of history by coming to experience Costa Rican culture and visiting the statue for yourself.  And after you're done with the long walk, come visit our beachfront property in Playa Langosta and relax your feet in the sand and warm tropical water at our beachfront Bed and Breakfast!

At Sueno del Mar, you will feel right at home at our beachfront Bed and Breakfast located near Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
