International Coffee Day in Costa Rica

Today is International Coffee Day!  Many countries around the world participate in International Coffee Day and here in Costa Rica, we also have a "National Coffee Day" on September 12th!

While we don't actually need a reason to celebrate coffee as we enjoy it every day here in Costa Rica at Sueno del Mar Bed and Breakfast, we thought we'd share a little bit about our coffee growing country with you:

• The only type of coffee that may be planted in Costa Rica is the Arabica variety
• About 90% of the coffee harvested here in Costa Rica is exported
• There are seven coffee producing regions in Costa Rica
• Most of the coffee grown comes from mountainous regions
• There are two types of classifications for coffee: There is the pure variety and there is a type that includes up to 10% sugar added in
