Diana & Matt wedding Day!!

We were so thrilled to welcome Diana and Matt with their wedding group this past June to Sueño del Mar! The couple’s friends and family took over our beachfront boutique hotel for the week and joined the couple in celebrating their wedding at Cala Luna Point, right next to our hotel, followed by a festive reception under the trees here on our property. The ladies of Liquid Weddings pulled off their beautiful design under the dinner tent complete with gorgeous lighting, an ombre rose centerpiece, and a surprise fire dancer! Congratulations to the lovely couple, and please come back and see us soon!

Guanacaste Tree

When driving to our Bed & Breakfast in Tamarindo, Costa Rica you will definitely pass some of our beautiful vegetation including many fruit trees, flowering shrubs, fields of sugar cane, and some incredible shade trees. One tree that stands out among the rest is the guanacaste tree, the tree for which our region of Costa Rica is named. In fact, the guanacaste tree was declared Costa Rica's national tree in 1959.

The guanacaste tree is said to symbolize stability and growth, as well as the power of Mother Nature.

The guanacaste tree is easily identified by it's very large crown of leafy branches and it's permanent green color. The term guancaste tree means ear tree because the curled seed pods on the trees resemble ears.

The guanacaste tree is important to Costarrican culture because the wood of this tree is water-resistant and easy to work with, which makes it a popular wood for making everything from furniture to oxcart wheels. Medicinally, the tree has been used to treat various ailments such as lung infections and colds, and the extract from the bark has even been used as a soap substitute.

Here at our Bed & Breakfast we are proud to have our rooms shaded by one of these magnificent trees!

Superfood: Spinach

Every Sunday, Ellen prepares for us a delicious Omelet with sauteed spinach, mushroom, black olives and cheese.  It is a delicious way to start our day! Usually Sundays at our Bed and Breakfast is one of our busiest days. Not only our guests like our Sunday brunch but other people staying nearby as well as our local residents in Tamarindo come and visit with us!

We always try to serve different types of foods with ingredients that nourish and help us have a balanced diet and stay healthy. Today we will provide you with more information about spinach.

Spinach is a powerhouse of nutrients! It is high in protein, Vitamin A, K, C and many other nutrients including folate/folic acid which is important for pregnant or nursing women.  It also has fiber and caretenoids.

Spinach is beneficial to one's health in so many ways...

It helps protect against heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer.  It has been shown to help with age-related memory loss and helps with inflammation, skin health and eye health as well as helps keeps our bones strong!

Whether you are a guest at our Tamarindo Bed and Breakfast, staying nearby or live in town, stop in on a Sunday morning for a healthy and delicious brunch!

Welcome to our Playa Langosta Hacienda

An important part of our philosophy at Sueno del Mar is to make our guests feel at home.  Our Hacienda is an intimate setting, with only six rooms.  Located on Playa Langosta, within seconds you'll be walking on the beach, feeling the sand beneath your feet and the Costa Rica's warm sun overhead.

While our pool and breakfast area are designed to create conversation amongst guests, there are also several areas on the property to relax if you want a little tranquility and privacy.

Guanacaste Sunsets

Probably some of the most spectacular sunsets can be seen directly in front of our beachfront Bed and Breakfast in Playa Langosta.  The clear blue water, white sand and rocky tide pools affords you the most picture perfect sunset.  Add in a few clouds and you’ll see how the sky lights up in a rainbow of colors as the sun melts slowly into the Pacific’s horizon.

Take a moment to relax on our lounge chairs or hammocks and enjoy this special moment.

The Differences Between Tamarindo and Langosta

Sueno del Mar is located in Playa Langosta, a quiet town set just outside of Playa Tamarindo.  Tamarindo is known to be a busier town with more people and activities but that’s why we feel like we have the best of both worlds at our Bed & Breakfast.

When you want quiet time, hang out on one of our beachfront lounge chairs or take a dip in the pool.  Feeling more social?  Go into town and check out the nightlife.  Bars and restaurants offer different themes at night – reggae, salsa and karaoke to name a few!
