Bird Migration in Costa Rica

Each year, more than 200 species of migrating birds pass through Costa Rica, and early November is an ideal time to see thousands of birds flying over this region.  Around 3 million migrating birds pass through our country during this tim period.

Some of the common and large migrating birds seen during these time are Kites, Hawks,Osprey, Falcons, Turkey Vultures.  There are many smaller migrating birds, like the Baltimore Oriole, but without a guide, they are often difficult to see!

While some of these birds stop and stay here for several months, others only stay for a few days of rest and then continue their migration south. Some travel as far as Patagonia in Argentina.  If you are planning to visit us in November don't forget to bring your binoculars and your camera with lots of memory space and a big zoom!

We are happy to arrange a birdwatching tour for you during your stay with us at our beachfront Bed and Breakfast!

You will feel right at home at our beachfront Bed and Breakfast located near Tamarindo, Costa Rica.
