Travel Tips for Your Costa Rica Vacation at Sueno del Mar

How exciting that you're coming to visit us here in Tamarindo on your Costa Rica vacation! Here are some tips for planning your trip:

Summer or Winter:

·         From November through April it's usually dry and quite warm with an average high in March of 33°C (91°F).
·         From May through October there's more chance of rain, but it's a bit cooler. Average temperatures in September are about 26°C (79°F). Tamarindo is generally drier than other parts of Costa Rica.
·         The monthly averages all year round range from 26°C (79°F) to 29°C (84°F), so there's really not a big variation; the weather is generally very pleasant.

Be sure to take:

·         Besides summer clothes and at least one bathing suit, remember to take sunblock and sunglasses.
·         Pack a good pair of hiking shoes/water shoes and insect repellent, especially if you're going to be visiting nature preserves.
·         Pack a light rain poncho just in case there's a sudden shower.

From Canada or the US:

·         You don't need a visa, but you'll need a valid passport and proof that you'll be leaving Costa Rica at the end of your stay. Have either your return airline ticket, bus ticket, or cruise ship receipt handy to show to officials.
·         Departure tax is US $29.
·         You may drive with your normal Canadian or US driver's license here in Costa Rica.

Where the fun is:

·         Tamarindo is known for its white-sand beach; it's a great area for snorkeling, surfing, or sea kayaking.
·         There are ATV tours, canopy tours, and horseback riding nearby.
·         Sailboat charters and sunset catamaran cruises are lovely and very popular. Sport-fishing for marlin and sailfish is excellent just twenty minutes offshore. Pick your favorite charter captain and have a wonderful time!
